Setup Custom Domain Name To Blogger With Godaddy - Step By Step

If you are Serious in Blogging and want to share your knowledge to help others using Blogspot or blogger, you must have a custom domain name for your blog. I believe you must not love to have an address like www.(blogname).blogspot.com as it doesn't show professionalism and seriousness.

We naturally love to be professional or unique in terms of blogging. So, You need a Custom Domain to be more authentic and professional.

So, You have bought a custom domain from Godaddy.com or Other Site. Now you have to add your Custom domain in blogger as your unique address. How will you do that??

Let's jump into the process.


When you purchase a custom domain from Godaddy.com, they assign IP address with DNS Records like A record and CNAME record for the domain. Hence, you need to alter those records to point to your Blogspot blog. The following steps will help you to change the records of your Godaddy Account, thus you will be able to set up your custom domain to your blogger.com blog.

STEPS TO FOLLOW: -

Step 1: Sign In To Your Godaddy Account. Then Click On "My Product". 

Step 2: In the product page, you will see all your purchased domain link. Click On the "Manage" option to your chosen domain name. 

Step 3: Now you have "Domain Setting" Page On your screen. Scroll Down a bit. There You will get an option named "Manage DNS". Click on there.

Now you can see your DNS Records like "A Records, CNAME, NS, SOA" etc. This is where you have to add the Blogger.com Blog's DNS Records to Setup your custom domain to Blogger.

Step 4: Now Log In To Your Blogger Account and Choose your preferred Blog name where you want to add your custom domain. Then you will see an interface like the following image. Simply Click on the "Setting" option.

Step 5: Now you can see the "Blog Address" Option. Just below the blog address (www.name.blogspot.com), you will see a blue colored clickable option called "Setup a third Party Url To Your Blog". Click on that option/ link.

Step 6: After that, insert your custom Godaddy's domain address inside "Blog Address" field of "Third party domain Setting" and click on "Save".

Step 7: After clicking on "Save", you will get a notification like "We have not been able to verify your authority". Below that notification, you will see "CNAME" Hosts and Destination details.

You need these CNAME Records to add in your Godaddy "Domain Setting".

Step 8: Now it's time to add the DNS Records to your Godaddy DNS Setting. So, Go back to your Godaddy "DNS Setting" page and click on "ADD" icon.

Step 9: Add the "CNAME" Hosts name and Destination Details of the blogger.

Note: You may get an unexpected error in times of adding the first CNAME with "www" hostname. It happens when you have multiple CNAME Records with "www" hostname. Simply Edit that one using your destination link or delete the first one and re-add.

So Now You have added two CNAME Records one by one and the setting looks like the following image after adding them.

Step 10: After that, you have to add the A-records IP Address to your DNS Record list. To Add A-records details, Go Back to your Blogger.com Setting and there you will see a Clickable link called "View Setting Instruction". Click on that or Open th link in a New Tab.

Step 11: In Instruction page you will see Custom Domain Setting Instruction. Just Scroll down a bit and in Step 3 you will find A-Records which point to Google IPs.

 Add those A-Records to your Godaddy Domain Setting one by one.

Step 12: Now you are almost done!! Just Go back to our Blogger Setting page and click on "Save".

After that you will see your Custom domain is added to your blogger and HTTPS Availability and Redirect are in Process.

Step 13: Lastly, Click On "Edit" option from your Blog Address. And Check Mark the "Redirect" box to activate Redirection.

You are done.!! Although it takes a few minutes most of the cases, you may wait for 2 to the max. 48 hours. So, now you have successfully Setup your custom domain to your Blogger.com Blog.
